To start the Toro Recycler 48-cm 20818 mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to "Choke" if the engine is cold, and the safety handle is held down. Then, pull the starter cord briskly.
Use SAE 30 oil for the Toro Recycler 48-cm 20818 mower at temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For colder temperatures, SAE 5W-30 is recommended.
The mower blade should be sharpened at least once a season or after every 25 hours of use to ensure optimal performance.
To clean the mower, disconnect the spark plug, use a brush or compressed air to remove grass clippings, and wipe down the mower deck with a damp cloth. Avoid using water directly on the engine.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, clean the air filter, and verify that the safety handle is engaged.
To improve grass collection, ensure the bag is not full, the blade is sharp, and the underside of the mower deck is clean. Adjust the cutting height as needed for optimal performance.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to achieve the preferred grass height.
The recommended maintenance schedule includes changing the oil every 25 hours of use, cleaning the air filter every 10 hours, and checking the spark plug annually.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one ensuring it is properly gapped. Reconnect the spark plug wire afterwards.
If the mower vibrates excessively, check for debris stuck in the blade, ensure the blade is balanced, and tighten any loose fasteners. If the issue persists, consult a professional.
