To start the Toro Recycler 48-cm 20816 Mower, first ensure that the fuel valve is open and the mower is on a flat surface. Pull the safety lever towards the handle and then pull the starter rope briskly.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and clean or replace it if necessary. Make sure the air filter is clean and not obstructed.
Change the oil in your Toro Recycler mower after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 weight oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Ensure the oil is a high-quality detergent oil classified as "For Service SF, SG, SH, SJ" or higher.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring that all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check that all wheels are set to the same height. Ensure the blade is sharp and balanced. Inspect the underside of the mower deck for grass build-up and clean it if necessary.
Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Tilt the mower to its side, keeping the air filter and carburetor side up. Use a brush or compressed air to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck.
At the end of the mowing season, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, sharpen or replace the blade, drain the fuel tank, and check and clean the air filter. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
Ensure the blade is sharp and in good condition. Mow when the grass is dry and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height at a time. Use a slow walking speed to allow the mower to mulch effectively.
Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance and replace if necessary. Check that the blade bolt is tight. Examine the engine mounting bolts and tighten them if they are loose.
