To start the Toro Recycler 48-cm 20812 Mower, ensure that the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to the 'Fast' position, and the blade control bar is engaged. Then, pull the starter handle firmly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C). For colder temperatures, SAE 10W-30 is recommended. Always check the oil level before each use.
It is recommended to sharpen the mower blade at least once a year or after every 25 hours of use to ensure optimal performance and a clean cut.
Improper mulching can be due to a dull blade, clogged deck, or wet grass. Ensure the blade is sharp, the deck is clean, and mow when the grass is dry for best results.
To clean the mower deck, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris. Dry the deck completely before storing the mower.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and that the air filter is clean. Also, make sure the blade control bar is properly engaged.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the mower deck.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil before each use, cleaning the deck after each use, sharpening the blade annually, and replacing the air filter and spark plug as needed.
To winterize the mower, drain the fuel system, change the oil, clean the deck, and store it in a dry location. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Excessive smoke can indicate too much oil in the engine or a clogged air filter. Check the oil level and reduce if necessary, and clean or replace the air filter.
