To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'choke' for a cold start, and the blade control lever is engaged. Pull the starter rope firmly to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 0°C (32°F). For colder temperatures, use SAE 10W-30 oil to ensure proper lubrication.
Check the air filter every 25 hours of operation and clean it as needed. Replace it annually or if it is damaged.
Ensure there is fresh fuel in the tank, the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and the air filter is not clogged. If it still won't start, check the carburetor and fuel line for blockages.
To store the mower for winter, drain the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the spark plug. Store in a dry, sheltered area.
Adjust the cutting height by pulling the height adjustment lever on each wheel to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning the air filter, inspecting the blade for sharpness, and ensuring all nuts and bolts are secure.
To sharpen the blade, remove it from the mower, secure it in a vice, and use a file or grinder to sharpen the cutting edge evenly. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Inspect the blade for damage and balance it if necessary. Check that the blade is properly tightened.
To clean the undercarriage, tilt the mower on its side, ensuring the air filter is facing up. Use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris. Allow it to dry completely before storing.
