To start the Toro Recycler 21442 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the battery is charged, and the key is inserted. Pull the start handle or press the electric start button, if available.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for colder temperatures. Check the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then after every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for debris. Also, verify the battery charge and connections if using the electric start.
Ensure the mower is off and cool. Tilt the mower on its side and use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris from the cutting deck.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to raise or lower the cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
Check the air filter every 25 hours of use. Clean it with a brush or replace it if it's excessively dirty or damaged.
Remove the spark plug wire for safety. Tilt the mower, remove the blade, and use a file or sharpening tool to sharpen the blade edge evenly. Reinstall and secure the blade firmly.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged blade, loose parts, or debris accumulation. Inspect the blade for damage and ensure all nuts and bolts are tight. Clean the mower thoroughly.
Clean the mower, change the oil, and remove the battery. Drain the fuel system or add a stabilizer. Store in a dry place and cover it to protect from dust and moisture.
