To start the Toro Recycler 20073 mower, first ensure the fuel valve is open. Pull the blade control bar to the handle and hold it. Then, pull the starter handle lightly until you feel resistance, then pull it briskly to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 detergent oil with an API service classification of SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL, or higher for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30 oil.
Change the mower's oil after the first 5 hours of operation, and subsequently, change it every 25 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected and not fouled, and verify that the air filter is clean. Additionally, ensure the blade control bar is fully engaged when starting.
Excessive vibration may indicate a damaged blade, loose blade bolt, or debris lodged in the blade area. Inspect the blade for damage, tighten the blade bolt, and clear any debris.
To clean the undercarriage, ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Tip the mower onto its side with the air filter and carburetor facing up. Use a garden hose to wash away clippings and debris.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever for each wheel. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the mower deck. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
At the end of the mowing season, change the oil, clean the undercarriage, check and replace the air filter if necessary, and inspect the blade for damage. Also, stabilize or drain the fuel if storing for the winter.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Install a new plug, ensuring the gap is set to 0.030 inches (0.76 mm), and reconnect the spark plug wire.
If the grass is not being cut evenly, check that the cutting height is set equally on all wheels. Also, inspect the blade to ensure it is sharp and not damaged, and verify that the mower deck is not clogged with debris.
