To start the Toro Recycler 22-inch 20049 mower, first ensure the fuel valve is open. Then, move the throttle lever to the 'Fast' position, and pull the starter handle firmly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for varying temperature ranges. Always check the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations.
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Next, inspect the spark plug for damage or wear. Also, make sure the air filter is clean and the fuel valve is open.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once a mowing season or after 25 hours of use. Dull blades can tear the grass rather than cut it cleanly.
After each use, use a garden hose to wash out accumulated grass clippings under the mower deck. Ensure the mower is off and the spark plug is disconnected before cleaning.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired height position.
It is not recommended to mow wet grass as it can clog the mower deck and potentially damage the lawn. Wait until the grass is dry for optimal mowing results.
At the end of the mowing season, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, replace the air filter, and inspect the spark plug. Store the mower in a dry location.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the wrench.
Check for debris lodged in the mower deck and inspect the blade for damage or imbalance. Tighten any loose bolts and ensure the blade is correctly installed.
