To start the Toro Recycler 22-inch 20013 mower, ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Check that the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Engage the blade control lever, pull the starter handle gently until you feel resistance, then pull quickly to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). It's important to check the oil level before each use and change it after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or once a season.
To sharpen the mower blade, first disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Tilt the mower to access the blade, then use a wrench to remove the blade. Sharpen the blade with a file or a bench grinder, maintaining the original angle. Reattach the blade securely before reconnecting the spark plug.
If the mower won't start, check for fuel issues by ensuring the tank is filled with fresh gasoline. Inspect the spark plug for damage or wear and replace if necessary. Also, clean the air filter if it's dirty, as this can affect starting.
Clean the air filter every 25 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace the air filter annually or after 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first.
To adjust the cutting height, move the height adjustment levers located on each wheel. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same height position for an even cut.
To store the mower during the off-season, clean the mower deck, change the oil, and remove any gasoline from the tank. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area away from direct sunlight. Consider removing the spark plug and adding a few drops of oil into the cylinder for protection.
For uneven cutting, check that all wheels are set to the same height. Inspect the blade for sharpness and balance, and sharpen if necessary. Ensure the mower deck is clean and free of debris that might obstruct the blade.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, and cleaning the mower deck. Also, inspect the spark plug and replace it annually. Follow the user manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
To replace the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug wire and ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Remove the blade and the belt guard, then slide off the old belt. Install the new belt by following the reverse procedure, ensuring it is properly seated on the pulleys.
