To start the mower, first ensure the gas tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Press the primer bulb three times, pull the handle lever against the handlebar, and then pull the starter cord.
Use SAE 30 detergent oil with an API service classification of SF, SG, SH, SJ, or higher. For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is not fouled and connected properly, inspect the air filter for clogs, and verify the fuel valve is open. Clean or replace parts as necessary.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once a season, or more frequently if the mower is used on rough or rocky terrain. Always balance the blades after sharpening to prevent vibration.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, clean the mower deck, remove and sharpen the blade, change the oil, and store the mower in a dry, protected area.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the wheel height adjustment levers located at each wheel. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height position for an even cut.
Check if the blade is dull or damaged and sharpen or replace it if necessary. Ensure the cutting height is set properly and that the grass is not too wet or tall during mowing.
Ensure the blade is sharp and clean, mow when the grass is dry, and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height in a single pass to improve mulching performance.
Disconnect the spark plug, tilt the mower on its side with the air filter and carburetor facing up, and use a garden hose to rinse away grass clippings and debris. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the old filter, and insert a new filter of the same type. Replace the cover and ensure it is securely fastened.
