To start the Toro Recycler 22-inch mower, ensure it has fresh fuel and oil. Set the mower to the choke position, and pull the starter rope. Allow the engine to warm up before mowing.
Check the fuel level and ensure it's fresh. Verify the spark plug connection and inspect for fouling. Clean or replace the air filter if dirty and ensure the mower is in the correct starting position.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and then once every mowing season or every 25 hours of operation, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F, use SAE 5W-30 oil.
Regularly inspect the blade for damage and sharpness. Sharpen the blade at least once a year, or more frequently if needed. Always disconnect the spark plug before performing blade maintenance.
Excessive vibration may be due to a damaged or unbalanced blade. Check the blade for damage and ensure it is properly balanced. Tighten any loose components.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
After each use, remove grass clippings and debris from the mower deck. Use a hose to wash the underside of the deck, and allow it to dry before storing. Disconnect the spark plug before cleaning.
Locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine. Remove the cover, take out the old filter, and insert a new one. Replace the cover securely.
Before storage, run the engine until it stops to remove fuel from the system. Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the spark plug. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
