To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 22298 Mower, ensure that the fuel valve is open and the throttle is set. Pull the starter handle slowly until you feel resistance, then pull rapidly to start the engine.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level and ensure that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for damage and clean or replace if necessary. Additionally, ensure that the air filter is clean and not clogged.
It is recommended to sharpen the mower blades at least once per mowing season or after 20-25 hours of use to maintain optimal cutting performance.
To change the oil, warm up the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off. Remove the dipstick, tip the mower on its side with the air filter facing up, and drain the oil into a container. Refill with fresh oil as specified in the manual.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Before storing the mower for winter, clean the mower deck, change the oil, remove or stabilize the fuel, and check for any loose or damaged parts. Store in a dry, sheltered location.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged blade, loose parts, or unbalanced cutting components. Inspect the blade for damage and ensure all bolts and screws are tightened.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with warm, soapy water and let it dry completely. If it's a paper filter, tap it gently to remove dirt or replace it if necessary.
If the mower leaves uncut grass patches, check if the blades are dull or damaged and sharpen or replace them as needed. Ensure the cutting height is set correctly and that the mower is not moving too fast over the grass.
