To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 22287 mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is in the correct position, and the drive control lever is disengaged. Pull the starter handle smoothly until the engine starts.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, and inspecting for any loose or damaged parts. Refer to the manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
Check if there's enough fuel in the tank, the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and the air filter is not clogged. Ensure the safety key is inserted and the battery is charged if applicable.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and move them to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug, and inspect the blade for damage. Balance or replace the blade as needed.
After use, ensure the engine is off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris from the underside of the mower deck. Avoid using high-pressure water which might damage components.
Ensure the grass bag is not overfilled and that the discharge chute is clear of obstructions. Mowing at a slower pace and on dry grass can also improve bagging performance.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 oil for the best performance in their Recycler 21-inch 22287 mower, especially in warmer climates. Check the user manual for more details.
Before storing, run the mower dry of fuel, change the oil, clean the deck, and remove the battery if applicable. Store in a dry, sheltered place to prevent rust and corrosion.
If the self-propel feature is not working, check the drive belt for wear or damage, ensure the drive control cable is properly adjusted, and inspect the transmission for any issues.
