Toro Recycler 21-inch 22179TE Operator's Manual

To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, turn the ignition key to the 'On' position, and then pull the starter cord briskly. Make sure the throttle is set to the 'Start' position.
Check that there is enough fuel in the tank and the spark plug is clean and connected. Ensure the air filter is clean and the fuel valve is open. If the problem persists, consult the user manual or contact a professional technician.
It's recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Use SAE 30 motor oil for optimal performance in warmer climates. For colder conditions, SAE 5W-30 is suitable. Always check the operator's manual for specific recommendations.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Then, remove the blade, secure it in a vice, and use a file or sharpening stone to hone the edge. Reinstall the blade securely once sharpened.
Ensure the mulching plug is installed correctly. Check if the blade is sharp, and clear any clippings that may be blocking the deck. Mowing when the grass is dry and not too high can also improve mulching performance.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
At the end of the season, drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and inspect the blade and other components for wear. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the old filter, and insert a new one of the same type. Ensure the filter is seated properly before replacing the cover.
Check for debris lodged in the blade area, inspect the blade for damage or imbalance, and ensure all nuts and bolts are tight. If the issue continues, consult a professional technician.
