To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch mower, ensure that the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Push the primer bulb three times if the engine is cold, then pull the starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. Additionally, inspect the primer bulb for damage and ensure the choke is engaged if starting cold.
Change the oil in your Toro Recycler mower after the first 5 hours of use and then once every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season. Use SAE 30 oil for the best performance.
Regular maintenance for the Toro Recycler includes changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening or replacing the blade, checking the spark plug, and cleaning the underside of the deck to prevent grass buildup.
To adjust the cutting height, move the height adjustment lever located at each wheel to the desired position. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same level for an even cut.
If the mower is not mulching properly, check that the blade is sharp and not damaged. Ensure the underside of the deck is clear of grass clippings, and mow at a slower pace to allow the blade to cut efficiently.
To store the mower for winter, run the engine until it stops to empty the fuel system, change the oil, remove and clean the spark plug, and clean the mower thoroughly. Store it in a dry, covered area.
If the mower vibrates excessively, check for a bent or unbalanced blade and ensure the blade is securely fastened. Inspect the engine mounting bolts and other components for any looseness.
To replace the blade, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety, tip the mower onto its side, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolt. Attach the new blade, ensuring it is installed in the correct orientation, and tighten the bolt securely.
The Toro Recycler mower is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
