To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 20320 mower, first ensure that the fuel valve is open. Then, press the primer bulb three times if the engine is cold. Pull the starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull quickly to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always check the owner’s manual for the recommended oil type and capacity.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Regular oil changes help maintain engine performance and longevity.
If the mower is not starting, check for fuel supply issues, a dirty air filter, or a faulty spark plug. Ensure the fuel is fresh, the air filter is clean, and the spark plug is properly connected and in good condition.
Ensure the blade is sharp and not damaged. Check for any build-up of grass clippings under the deck and clean it if necessary. Also, make sure you're cutting at an appropriate height for the grass conditions.
To adjust the cutting height, use the levers located near each wheel. Move the lever to the desired height setting, ensuring that all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, checking the spark plug, and cleaning the under-deck. These tasks should be performed at least annually or as specified in the user manual.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug by threading it in by hand, then tightening it with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire once finished.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade and replace it if necessary. Also, check for loose parts or debris lodged in the mower that might be causing the vibration.
For off-season storage, clean the mower thoroughly to remove grass clippings and debris. Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer if storing with fuel. Change the oil, remove the spark plug, and store the mower in a dry, protected area.
