Ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Pull the starting cord slowly until you feel resistance, then pull it sharply. Ensure the safety key is inserted and the handlebar control lever is engaged.
Check for a full fuel tank and a charged battery. Ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Verify the air filter is clean and not clogged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 oil for optimal performance in most temperature conditions.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired cutting height, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug wire and tilt the mower to its side. Use a garden hose to rinse grass clippings and debris from the deck.
Ensure the blade is sharp and free of damage. Mow when the grass is dry and keep the engine speed high for better mulching.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one with the correct gap setting. Reconnect the wire securely.
Check for debris stuck in the blade area. Inspect the blade for damage or imbalance, and ensure it is securely attached. Tighten all bolts and nuts.
Run the engine to empty the fuel tank, then change the oil. Clean the mower thoroughly, remove the battery, and store it in a dry, protected area.
