To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 20103 Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline. Set the throttle to the 'Choke' position if the engine is cold. Pull the starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
If the mower won't start, check that there is fuel in the tank and that the spark plug is connected. Verify that the air filter is clean and not clogged. Ensure the blade control bar is depressed when starting the mower.
After use, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Tilt the mower to its side, ensuring the air filter and carburetor are facing up. Use a hose to rinse grass clippings from the underside of the deck.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Ensure the oil is API service classification SJ or higher.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once a season or after every 25 hours of use. Inspect the blade regularly for nicks or dullness, and sharpen or replace as needed.
Perform a basic maintenance check before each use. Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or annually. Clean the air filter every 25 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions.
To adjust the cutting height, move the wheel height adjustment levers located at each wheel. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Uncut grass patches may be due to a dull blade, clogged deck, or incorrect mower speed. Ensure the blade is sharp and the deck is clean. Adjust the mowing speed to suit the grass conditions.
To improve mulching performance, mow when the grass is dry, and keep the blade sharp. Avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass blade length at a time.
For winter storage, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil and clean the mower thoroughly. Remove the battery if applicable, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
