To start the Toro Recycler 21-inch 20058 Mower, ensure the mower is on a level surface. Pull the starter handle slowly until you feel resistance, then pull quickly to start the engine. Ensure the throttle is in the 'Start' position.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and verify the air filter is clean. Also, make sure the safety key is in place and the fuel valve is open.
To maintain the mower blade, regularly check for sharpness and balance. Sharpen the blade when dull and replace it if it shows signs of damage or heavy wear. Always disconnect the spark plug before servicing the blade.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, cleaning the air filter every 25 hours, and changing the oil every 50 hours. Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours and replace it as needed.
To improve cutting performance, ensure the blade is sharp and balanced, mow in dry conditions, and set the mower deck to the appropriate height for your lawn's grass type.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil fill cap, and tilt the mower onto its side to drain the old oil. Refill with the recommended oil type and check the level with the dipstick.
Excessive vibration may be due to an unbalanced or damaged blade. Check the blade for damage and balance it if necessary. Ensure all mounting bolts are tightened properly.
To clean the deck, first disconnect the spark plug. Tilt the mower and use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris. Dry the deck thoroughly to prevent rust.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends with more than 10% ethanol.
For off-season storage, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the spark plug. Add fuel stabilizer to the tank and store the mower in a dry, covered area.
