To start the Toro Recycler 20318 Mower, first ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Press the primer bulb three times, pull the safety bar to the handle, and then pull the starter rope briskly.
If the mower won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and clean or replace it if necessary. Additionally, ensure the air filter is clean and the primer bulb is functioning.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season. Use SAE 30 or 10W-30 oil for best performance.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and disconnect the spark plug. Use a hose to spray underneath the deck, and scrape off any remaining grass clippings or debris with a plastic scraper.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired height setting, ensuring all wheels are set to the same level for an even cut.
If the mower leaves uncut grass, the blade may be dull. Sharpen or replace the blade as necessary. Also, check that the cutting height is appropriate for the grass conditions and that the underside of the deck is clean.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Install the new spark plug and tighten it securely, then reconnect the spark plug wire.
At the end of the mowing season, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the air filter, and inspect the blade for sharpening or replacement. Store the mower in a dry, secure location.
To improve mulching performance, mow when the grass is dry and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height at a time. Ensure the blade is sharp and the underside of the deck is clean.
Excessive vibration may be due to a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and balance it or replace it if necessary. Also, check for loose parts or fasteners and tighten them as needed.
