Toro Rake-o-Vac TBX 550 51545 Operator's Manual

To start the Toro Rake-o-Vac, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the throttle is set to the "start" position, and the choke is engaged. Pull the starter handle firmly until the engine starts, then gradually move the choke to the "run" position.
Check if the bag is full and needs emptying. Ensure the hose and nozzle are clear of obstructions. Adjust the height settings to match ground conditions for optimal debris pick-up.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 25 operating hours or at the beginning of each season. This includes checking the air filter, spark plug, and oil levels.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or 10W-30 motor oil for optimal engine performance and protection.
Ensure the fuel valve is open and there's fresh fuel in the tank. Check the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Make sure the choke is set correctly for starting.
Check for debris lodged in the impeller or other moving parts. Tighten any loose bolts and ensure all components are securely attached. If the problem persists, inspect for worn or damaged parts.
While the vacuum can handle damp leaves, it is not recommended to use it on excessively wet material as it may clog the machine and reduce performance.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug, and install the new one, ensuring it's properly gapped. Reattach the spark plug wire securely.
Before storing, clean the unit thoroughly and drain the fuel. Change the oil and remove the spark plug, adding a few drops of oil to the cylinder before reinserting the plug. Store in a dry, sheltered area.
