To start the Toro Rake-o-Vac 51574, first ensure that the bag is properly attached. Then, set the throttle to the 'start' position, pull the choke if the engine is cold, and pull the starter cord firmly.
Check the fuel level and ensure that fresh fuel is used. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. If the problem persists, consult the user manual for troubleshooting electrical or carburetor issues.
Regular maintenance should be performed after every 25 hours of use or at the end of each season. This includes checking and cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, and inspecting the spark plug.
Use SAE 30W detergent oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C), and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Ensure that the oil is API service classification SJ or higher.
Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the bag and empty its contents. Clean the bag with a brush to remove any debris stuck in the fabric. Do not wash the bag with water.
Inspect the vacuum bag for clogs or blockages and ensure it is installed correctly. Check the impeller for damage or obstructions. Also, verify that the throttle is set to the correct speed setting for optimal suction.
Before storing, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the unit thoroughly, and check for any needed repairs. Store in a dry, sheltered location away from direct sunlight.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug, ensuring it is properly gapped, and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Check for loose or damaged parts, especially the impeller and mounting bolts. Tighten any loose components and replace damaged ones. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
Locate the throttle control lever on the handle. Move the lever to adjust the engine speed to the desired level. Refer to the user manual for specific throttle settings for different types of debris.
