To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'FAST', and the blade control bar is engaged. Pull the recoil starter handle briskly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Ensure the oil has the API service classification of SF, SG, SH, SJ, or SL.
The cutting height can be adjusted by moving the height-of-cut levers located on each wheel. Ensure all four levers are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check if there is enough fuel in the tank, the spark plug is functioning, and the air filter is clean. Ensure the blade control bar is engaged and the fuel valve is open.
Sharpen the blade after every 20-25 hours of mowing or when you notice a decrease in cutting performance. Always wear gloves and disconnect the spark plug before removing the blade.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil every 25 hours of use, cleaning or replacing the air filter annually, and inspecting the spark plug annually. Check the blade for sharpness regularly.
To clean the underside of the mower deck, disconnect the spark plug wire, tip the mower on its side, and use a brush or water to remove grass clippings and debris. Ensure the mower is dry before storing.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and ensure it is tightened securely. Replace the blade if it is bent or unbalanced.
To replace the drive belt, remove the belt cover, slide the belt off the pulleys, and install the new belt following the same path. Ensure the belt is properly seated on all pulleys.
Before storing, drain the fuel tank, change the oil, and clean the mower thoroughly. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area. Consider removing the battery and storing it indoors if applicable.
