To start the Toro ProLine Recycler 21-inch 22174 Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Press the primer bulb three times, pull the starter handle, and hold the bail handle against the handlebar as you pull.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, cleaning the mower deck after each use, replacing the air filter annually, and sharpening or replacing the blade as needed.
To adjust the cutting height, use the lever located at each wheel. Move the lever to the desired height setting, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify the spark plug is functioning, and clean or replace it if necessary. Also, ensure the air filter is clean and the primer bulb is functioning.
To clean the mower deck, first ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Use a garden hose to rinse the underside of the deck, removing grass clippings and debris. Allow the deck to dry before reconnecting the spark plug wire.
Uncut grass patches may be due to a dull or damaged blade, incorrect cutting height, or mowing too quickly. Sharpen or replace the blade, adjust the cutting height, and slow down your mowing pace to improve performance.
To change the oil, run the engine until warm, then turn it off. Remove the spark plug wire, tilt the mower with the air filter facing up, and drain the old oil into an appropriate container. Refill with the recommended oil type and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content as it may damage the engine.
Before storing for the winter, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, protected area. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blade for damage and balance it properly or replace it if necessary. Ensure all bolts and fasteners are secured.
