To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is in the 'choke' position, and the blade control bar is engaged. Pull the starter handle briskly.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify the spark plug connection and inspect it for wear. Clean the air filter if necessary.
Sharpen the blade regularly, ensure the underside of the deck is clean, and adjust the cutting height to suit the lawn conditions.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the blade, and checking the tire pressure.
To change the oil, run the engine briefly to warm it up, then turn off the mower. Remove the oil fill cap and tilt the mower to drain the oil into a container. Refill with the recommended oil type.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Adjust the cutting height by moving the height adjustment levers located on each wheel to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
Check if the blade is sharp and replace or sharpen it if necessary. Ensure you are mowing at the right speed and that the grass is dry.
After use, let the mower cool, then use a hose to clean the underside of the deck. Avoid spraying water directly on the engine. Dry the mower thoroughly before storing.
Always wear appropriate footwear and eye protection. Keep hands and feet away from the blade. Do not operate the mower on wet grass or on slopes steeper than recommended.
