To adjust the cutting height, first ensure the mower is on a flat surface. Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel, and move them to the desired setting. Make sure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Routine maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting and replacing the air filter, sharpening or replacing the blade, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck to prevent grass buildup.
Check that all wheels are set to the same height. Inspect the blade for sharpness and balance. Ensure the mower deck is clean and free of debris. Adjust tire pressure to ensure all tires are evenly inflated.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Check the air filter for clogs and clean or replace it. Ensure all safety switches are engaged properly.
Blades should be sharpened at least once per mowing season, or more often if the grass appears torn or ragged after mowing. Regularly inspect the blade for nicks or damage and sharpen as needed.
After use, allow the mower to cool, and then use a hose to wash off grass clippings from the deck. Avoid spraying water on the engine. Dry the mower with a cloth and store it in a dry place.
To replace the drive belt, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the cutting deck and follow the belt routing diagram for installation. Replace the belt and reattach the deck, ensuring all components are secured.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade or debris caught in the mower deck. Check and balance the blade, and clear any debris from the deck. Inspect the engine mount bolts and tighten if loose.
To winterize, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the spark plug. Add fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine briefly. Store the mower in a dry place and cover it to protect against dust and moisture.
Check the sharpness of the blade and sharpen if dull. Inspect the air filter and replace if dirty. Ensure the deck is level and clear of debris. Verify that the engine is running at the correct RPM.
