To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle lever is set to 'Choke' for a cold start, and the blade control lever is disengaged. Then, pull the starter rope briskly.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting and sharpening the blades, cleaning the air filter, and checking the tire pressure. Refer to the manual for detailed intervals.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, verify that the air filter is clean, and ensure the throttle is set correctly.
Inspect the blades for damage or dullness and sharpen or replace them as needed. Also, check for debris buildup under the deck that might obstruct the blades.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel and move them to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For temperatures below 32°F (0°C), use SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil. Check the manual for further guidance.
After each use, safely tilt the mower and use a garden hose to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck. Make sure the mower is off and cooled down before cleaning.
Excessive vibration may indicate a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the blades for damage and ensure they are properly balanced. Tighten any loose parts and check the engine mounting bolts.
Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, and keeping the blades sharp, can improve fuel efficiency. Also, avoid mowing with the throttle set too low.
Wear appropriate protective gear, ensure the area is clear of debris and people, and never bypass safety features. Always operate on stable ground and avoid mowing wet grass.
