To start the Toro ProLine 53-cm 22701B Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, engage the choke if necessary, and pull the starter rope firmly. Release the choke once the engine starts.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Use a hose to rinse grass clippings and debris from the underside of the deck after each use.
To adjust the cutting height, move the height adjustment lever located near each wheel to the desired setting. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same height.
If the mower is not starting, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter. Also, verify that the safety handle is engaged while starting.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new spark plug. Make sure it's properly gapped and tightened.
Excessive vibration could be due to a damaged blade, loose components, or debris. Inspect the blade for damage, tighten any loose parts, and clear any debris from the mower.
Sharpen the mower blade at least once per mowing season or when you notice uneven cutting or torn grass. A sharp blade ensures a clean cut and promotes lawn health.
For off-season storage, drain the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Consider removing the battery if applicable, and protect the mower with a cover.
