To start the Toro ProLine 42-inch 78415 Mower, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO lever is disengaged, and the throttle is in the 'start' position. Turn the ignition key to the 'start' position until the engine starts, then release the key.
If the mower does not cut evenly, check the tire pressure to ensure it is equal on both sides. Inspect the mower deck to make sure it is level and adjust if necessary. Also, check the blades for sharpness and damage, and replace if needed.
The mower blades should be sharpened after every 25 hours of use or if you notice the grass is not being cut cleanly. Regularly inspect the blades for nicks and damage.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for general use. For temperatures consistently above 80°F (27°C), SAE 30 oil can be used. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
If the mower does not start, check if there is fuel in the tank, the battery is charged, and the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Also, ensure the safety features like the seat switch are engaged.
To store the mower, clean it thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the battery. Store the battery in a cool, dry place. Add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, and cover the mower to protect it from dust and moisture.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers near each wheel. Move the levers to the desired cutting position, ensuring all levers are set to the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades. Check the blades for damage and balance them if necessary. Also, inspect the mower deck and engine mounting for any loose parts.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and cool. Use a garden hose to wash away grass clippings and debris. For stubborn build-up, use a plastic scraper to remove the material.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and inspecting belts and cables for wear. Refer to the owner's manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
