Regular maintenance should include checking the oil level before each use, cleaning or replacing the air filter every 25 hours of operation, sharpening the blades every 20-25 hours, and changing the engine oil every 50 hours.
Check the fuel level to ensure there is gas in the tank, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, make sure the air filter is clean, and verify that the safety switch is engaged.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 or SAE 10W-30 oil for optimal performance in varying temperature conditions.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel, and set them to the desired position ensuring all wheels are set to the same height.
Clean the mower thoroughly, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, and store it in a dry, covered area to protect it from the elements.
Check the air filter for clogs, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and examine the fuel for contamination or stale gas.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug socket to remove the old plug, install a new, properly gapped spark plug, and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Excessive vibration may be caused by unbalanced or damaged blades, loose engine mounting bolts, or debris lodged in the mower deck.
After each use, use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings and debris. For more thorough cleaning, safely tip the mower and scrape off any buildup with a plastic scraper.
Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage, check the transmission for proper engagement, and ensure that the wheel drive system is free of obstructions.
