To start the Toro ProLine 170 30170 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'Fast', and the blade control lever is disengaged. Then, pull the starter rope briskly.
If the mower does not start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected and clean, and verify that the air filter is not clogged.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using ethanol blends greater than E10.
To clean the mower deck, ensure the engine is off and cool. Tilt the mower onto its side and use a hose to wash away grass clippings and debris. Avoid getting water into the engine or air filter.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced blade or debris lodged in the blade area. Check the blade for damage and balance, and remove any debris.
To sharpen the blades, remove them from the mower and use a file or grinding wheel to sharpen the cutting edges. Ensure the blades are balanced before reinstalling.
Before storing the mower for the winter, drain the fuel, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and remove the battery if applicable. Store in a dry place.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install the new plug by tightening it securely and reattaching the wire.
If the mower is cutting unevenly, check the tire pressure, ensure the blade is sharp and balanced, and adjust the deck level if necessary.
