To start the Toro Powervac 51987 Blower, ensure it is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the 'Full' position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, pull the starter rope firmly until the engine starts, then move the choke to the 'Run' position.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and mix it with a high-quality 2-cycle oil at a 50:1 ratio. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol.
Check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, verify the air filter is not clogged, and confirm the choke and throttle settings are correct.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting and replacing the spark plug annually, checking the fuel system for leaks, and keeping the blower clean and free of debris.
To convert to vacuum mode, turn off the engine, remove the blower tubes, attach the vacuum tubes, and install the vacuum bag. Ensure all connections are secure before restarting the blower.
Check for loose parts or debris in the fan housing. Inspect the impeller for damage or obstructions. Tighten any loose screws or connections.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace if the filter is damaged.
It is not recommended to use the blower in wet or damp conditions as moisture can damage the engine and electrical components. Wait until the area is dry.
Empty the fuel tank, clean the exterior, check for any needed repairs, and store in a dry, secure location away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Always wear eye and hearing protection, avoid loose clothing, operate on stable ground, and keep bystanders at least 50 feet away. Never point the blower at people or pets.
