To start the Toro Powervac 51984 Blower, ensure it is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the 'full' position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, and pull the starter handle briskly. Once the engine starts, move the choke lever to the 'run' position.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and mix it with a high-quality, 2-cycle oil at a ratio of 50:1. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
If your blower is not starting, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and clean or replace it if necessary. Additionally, make sure the air filter is clean and that all switches are in the correct position.
To switch between blower and vacuum modes, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the blower tubes and attach the vacuum tubes. Ensure all components are securely fastened before restarting the engine.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug, inspecting fuel lines for damage, and keeping the exterior clean. Follow the maintenance schedule in the user manual for detailed instructions.
To clean the air filter, remove it from the blower and gently tap it to remove loose dirt. If necessary, wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Excessive vibration may be caused by loose or damaged parts. Inspect the blower for any loose screws or bolts and tighten them. Check the impeller and fan for damage or debris. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug. Install a new spark plug with the correct gap and hand-tighten it before securing it with the wrench. Reattach the spark plug wire.
It is not recommended to use the blower in wet conditions as moisture can damage the engine and electrical components. Always ensure the blower is dry before use and avoid blowing wet debris.
For off-season storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine to burn off any remaining fuel. Clean the blower thoroughly and remove any debris. Store it in a cool, dry place and cover it to protect from dust and moisture.
