To start the Toro Power Throw 824, ensure the fuel valve is open, switch the choke to the 'on' position, and pull the starter handle or use the electric start button if available. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the 'off' position.
If the snow thrower does not start, check the fuel level and ensure it's fresh. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Inspect the fuel line for blockages and ensure the choke and throttle are in the correct positions.
Change the oil in your Toro Power Throw 824 after the first 5 hours of use, and then annually or after every 50 hours of use, whichever comes first.
To store the snow thrower, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the machine thoroughly, especially the auger and chute. Store in a dry place and cover to protect from dust and moisture.
To improve performance in heavy snow, adjust the skid shoes to raise the auger housing. Make sure the tire pressure is adequate, and use tire chains for added traction if necessary.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol.
To replace the drive belt, disconnect the spark plug, remove the belt cover, and release the tension on the belt. Remove the old belt and install the new one by following the reverse procedure. Ensure the belt is properly seated on all pulleys.
Regularly inspect the auger and impeller for wear and damage. Tighten any loose bolts and replace any worn out or damaged parts. Lubricate the auger shaft annually to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
Excessive vibration can be caused by damaged or unbalanced augers or impellers. Inspect these components for damage and replace if necessary. Also, check for loose bolts or parts and tighten them.
If the snow thrower isn't throwing snow as far, check for clogs in the chute or auger. Make sure the impeller and auger blades are not worn out. Also, verify that the engine is running at full throttle.
