To start the Toro Power Shift 924, first ensure the fuel shut-off valve is open. Set the throttle to 'Fast', press the primer bulb twice, and switch the ignition key to 'On'. Pull the starter handle or use the electric starter if available.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Verify the ignition key is in the 'On' position. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. Ensure the primer bulb is functioning and that the choke is properly set.
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil. Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
Regular maintenance should be performed at the beginning and end of each snow season. This includes checking the oil, spark plug, belts, and auger system, and lubricating moving parts.
Check for clogs in the discharge chute and auger. Ensure the auger and impeller are not worn or damaged. Adjust the chute deflector angle for optimal performance. Inspect the drive belt for wear and replace if necessary.
Loosen the skid shoe mounting bolts and adjust the skid shoes to the desired height. For surfaces with gravel, set the shoes higher to prevent picking up debris. Tighten the bolts securely after adjustment.
Check for loose or damaged parts, such as the auger, impeller, or engine mounts. Inspect the auger for obstructions. Ensure the engine is securely mounted and all fasteners are tightened.
Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent gum deposits. Clean the snow thrower thoroughly, apply lubrication to moving parts, and store in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the traction drive cable is properly adjusted and not broken. Check the friction disc for wear and replace it if needed.
