To start the Toro Power Shift 828, ensure the fuel valve is open, set the choke to the full position, and the throttle to the FAST position. Pull the starter handle or use the electric starter if available. Once started, gradually move the choke to the RUN position.
First, check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Inspect the fuel lines for clogs or leaks, and make sure the choke and throttle are set correctly.
At the start of the snow season, change the engine oil, inspect the spark plug, check and tighten all fasteners, and lubricate the moving parts as per the user manual. Also, ensure the tires are properly inflated.
To adjust the skid shoes, place the snow thrower on a flat surface. Loosen the skid shoe nuts and set the desired height. Tighten the nuts securely. This adjustment helps prevent damage to surfaces and ensures efficient snow clearing.
Check for any obstructions in the discharge chute and ensure the auger is not damaged. Inspect the belt for wear and adjust or replace it if necessary. Verify that the engine is running at full throttle.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation for a new engine and then every 25 hours of use or at the end of the snow season. Use oil as specified in the owner's manual.
To store the snow thrower, run the engine until it runs out of fuel or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the machine thoroughly, check for any needed repairs, and store it in a dry place. Cover the unit to protect it from dust and debris.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content. Always use a fuel stabilizer if the fuel will sit in the tank for more than 30 days.
To replace the drive belt, first disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the belt cover, then take off the old belt from the pulleys. Install a new belt following the reverse steps, ensuring it is properly aligned on the pulleys.
To clean the carburetor, turn off the fuel valve, remove the air filter cover, and disassemble the carburetor carefully. Use a carburetor cleaner to remove deposits and reassemble. Ensure all parts are dry before reinstallation.
