Toro Power Shift 824 38543 Operator's Manual

To start the Toro Power Shift 824, first ensure that the fuel valve is open, the ignition switch is set to 'ON', and the choke is engaged if the engine is cold. Then, pull the starter rope or use the electric start if equipped.
A regular maintenance schedule includes checking and replacing the oil every 25 hours of use, inspecting and cleaning the spark plug annually, and lubricating the auger and chute control components before each season.
If the snow thrower won't start, check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify the spark plug is clean and correctly gapped, and check the engine oil level. Also, inspect the fuel line for clogs and make sure the ignition switch is turned on.
Ensure the discharge chute is clear of obstructions. Check that the auger and impeller are not worn or damaged. Adjust the chute deflector angle and make sure the engine is running at full throttle.
To adjust the skid shoes, loosen the mounting nuts and raise or lower the skid shoes to the desired height. Tighten the nuts securely. For gravel surfaces, set the skid shoes higher to avoid picking up stones.
Use SAE 5W-30 oil for the Toro Power Shift 824. For extreme cold conditions, Toro recommends synthetic SAE 0W-30 oil. Always check the owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
To store the snow thrower, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the machine, check for any needed repairs, and store it in a dry, protected area. Consider using a fuel stabilizer if storing with fuel.
Excessive vibration can be caused by loose parts, damaged impeller or auger, or debris lodged in the auger housing. Inspect and tighten all parts and remove any debris. Check for wear or damage and replace parts if necessary.
To replace the drive belt, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the belt cover, release tension on the belt, and remove the old belt. Install the new belt following the reverse order and ensure proper tension.
If the wheels are not engaging, check the drive cable for proper tension and adjust if necessary. Inspect the wheel drive system for wear or damage and replace any faulty components.
