To start the Toro Power Max 926OXE, ensure the fuel shut-off valve is open, the throttle is set to FAST, and the choke is in the ON position. Prime the engine three times, then pull the recoil starter or use the electric starter.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil after the first 2 hours and then annually, inspecting the spark plug annually, and lubricating the drive and chassis annually.
If the snow thrower won't start, check for fresh fuel, ensure the throttle and choke are correctly set, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and confirm the ignition key is inserted properly.
Use a high-quality detergent oil classified as SAE 5W-30 for cold temperatures or SAE 10W-30 for warmer conditions. Ensure it meets API service classification SJ or higher.
To adjust the skid shoes, loosen the nuts on each shoe, raise or lower the shoes to the desired height, and retighten the nuts. This controls the clearance between the scraper blade and the ground.
If the auger doesn't turn, check for any obstructions in the auger housing, ensure the auger drive belt is not broken or worn, and inspect the shear pins for damage. Replace any damaged components as needed.
To prevent clogging, clear snow regularly to avoid heavy accumulation, use the chute deflector to control snow discharge, and run the machine at full throttle for optimal performance.
For off-season storage, empty the fuel tank, run the engine until it stops, clean the snow thrower thoroughly, and store it in a dry location. Consider using a fuel stabilizer if storing fuel.
To change the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug using a spark plug wrench, set the gap on the new plug to 0.030 inches, and install it by hand before tightening with the wrench.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, stop the engine, remove the oil drain plug, and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the plug, refill with fresh oil, and check the level.
