To start the Toro Power Max 828LE, ensure the fuel valve is open, the choke is in the ON position, and the throttle is set to FAST. Pull the recoil starter or use the electric start button if available. Once started, move the choke to the OFF position.
Check that the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline and the spark plug is connected. Ensure the choke is engaged and the throttle is set to FAST. If it still doesn’t start, inspect the spark plug for damage or fouling and replace if necessary.
Regularly check the auger and impeller for any debris or ice buildup. Lubricate the auger shaft annually with a suitable lubricant. Inspect the shear pins for wear or damage and replace them if needed.
Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then annually or every 25 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Ensure the engine is off and cool before changing the oil.
Use a high-quality SAE 5W-30 oil for general use. For temperatures below 0°F (-18°C), a synthetic 0W-30 oil is recommended for easier starting.
Install tire chains or use Toro's available tire weight kit to improve traction on icy surfaces. Ensure the tires are inflated to the recommended pressure for optimal performance.
Ensure the discharge chute is not clogged and is set to the desired direction. Check the auger and impeller for obstructions and wear. Adjust the engine speed to FAST for maximum throwing distance.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Change the oil, remove the spark plug, and add a teaspoon of oil into the cylinder. Reattach the spark plug without connecting the wire. Clean the unit and store it in a dry place.
Inspect the auger and impeller for any damage or lodged debris. Check the engine mounting bolts and other fasteners for tightness. If the problem persists, consult a Toro service dealer.
Loosen the skid shoe bolts and raise or lower them to the desired height. For paved surfaces, set them lower to scrape the ground. For gravel surfaces, raise them to prevent picking up stones. Tighten the bolts securely after adjustment.
