Ensure the snow thrower is on a flat surface. Insert the key into the ignition, set the choke to full, and press the primer bulb a few times. Then, pull the starter handle or press the electric start button if equipped.
Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 or other ethanol blends with more than 10% ethanol.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then annually or every 50 hours, whichever comes first.
Check the fuel level and add fresh fuel if necessary. Ensure the key is in the ignition, the choke is set, and the primer bulb has been pressed. If it still doesn't start, check the spark plug and replace if needed.
Loosen the skid shoe mounting nuts, adjust the skid shoes to the desired height, then retighten the nuts. Ensure both sides are adjusted equally for a level auger.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, lubricate moving parts, and store in a clean, dry place. Clean the machine thoroughly to prevent rust.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the belt cover, take off the old belt, and install the new belt around the pulleys. Reattach the belt cover and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Check for clogs in the chute or auger, ensure the throttle is set to high, and inspect the auger and impeller for wear. Adjust the chute deflector to achieve the desired distance.
Check the auger drive cable for tension and adjust if necessary. Inspect the belt for wear or damage and replace if needed. Ensure the control lever is fully engaged.
Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Align the hole in the auger with the shaft hole, insert a new shear pin, and secure it with a cotter pin. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
