To start the Toro Power Max 1028OHXE, ensure that the fuel valve is open, the choke is set to full, and the throttle is on high. Then, turn the engine switch to 'ON' and pull the recoil starter handle or press the electric start button if equipped.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use ethanol blends greater than 10%.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the oil drain into a catch pan. Replace the drain plug, and refill with the recommended oil type and capacity as specified in the manual.
Check for any obstructions in the discharge chute and auger. Ensure the auger and impeller are not worn or damaged. Adjust the chute deflector and speed settings for optimal performance.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug and adjust if necessary. Install the new spark plug, tighten it securely, and reconnect the spark plug wire.
To prevent clogging, run the engine at full throttle and use a steady pace. Avoid overloading the snow thrower by taking smaller cuts in deep snow, and keep the chute clean and dry.
Before storage, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent gum deposits. Change the oil, clean the snow thrower, and inspect for any worn parts. Lubricate moving parts and store in a dry place.
To adjust the skid shoes, loosen the mounting nuts and slide the shoes up or down to the desired height. Ensure both sides are set equally for even operation. Tighten the nuts securely after adjustment.
Check if the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline and the fuel valve is open. Ensure the choke and throttle settings are correct. Inspect the spark plug and replace if necessary. Additionally, check the safety key and ensure it is inserted properly.
To replace the drive belt, first, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the belt cover, then loosen the belt tensioner to remove the old belt. Install the new belt, adjust the tensioner, and replace the belt cover. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
