To start the Toro Power Max 1028LE, ensure the fuel shutoff valve is open, the throttle is set to "FAST", and the choke is in the "ON" position for a cold start. Then, pull the starter handle or use the electric start button if equipped.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Make sure the safety key is inserted and try adjusting the choke and throttle settings.
Change the oil after the first 2 hours of use for a new engine, then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each season. Use SAE 5W-30 oil for best performance in cold weather.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using E85 or any other ethanol-blended fuels exceeding 10% ethanol content.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one with the correct gap setting of 0.030 inches. Reattach the spark plug wire securely.
Check if the chute is clogged and clear any obstructions. Ensure the auger and impeller are free from damage and spinning correctly. Adjust the chute deflector to the desired direction and distance.
Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent degradation. Clean the snow thrower thoroughly, including the auger and impeller. Lubricate moving parts and store in a dry, protected area. Disconnect the battery if applicable.
Loosen the skid shoe bolts and adjust the shoes so that the auger housing is about 1/8 inch above the ground for smooth surfaces, or higher for uneven terrain. Tighten the bolts securely.
Routinely check and tighten any loose bolts and nuts, inspect the belt for wear, and ensure the auger and impeller are functioning properly. Regularly inspect the tires and maintain proper air pressure.
Inspect the auger for debris and damage. Check the impeller for obstructions and ensure all fasteners and components are tight. Excessive vibration may indicate a need for professional service if issues persist.
