To start the Toro Power Clear 518 38474, ensure the fuel valve is open, set the choke to the "ON" position, prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb, and pull the starter handle sharply. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the "OFF" position.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Ensure the fuel is fresh and does not contain more than 10% ethanol to maintain optimal performance.
Change the oil after the first 2 hours of operation, and then every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each snow season to ensure proper engine maintenance.
Check for any obstructions in the discharge chute or auger area. Make sure the auger drive belt is properly tensioned and inspect the auger paddles for wear. Replace any worn paddles as needed.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel deterioration. Clean the snow thrower, change the oil, and store it in a dry place. Cover the machine to protect it from dust and moisture.
To adjust the scraper blade, loosen the bolts securing it to the housing and adjust the blade height so it is just above the ground, ensuring it contacts the surface evenly. Tighten the bolts securely after adjustment.
Ensure the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline, the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and the engine is primed. Check the safety key is inserted properly and the choke is set to the correct position.
Regularly inspect the auger paddles for wear and tear. If the paddles are worn down to the wear indicators, replace them to maintain optimal snow-throwing performance.
To replace the spark plug, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug using a spark plug wrench, and install a new one. Make sure to set the correct gap as specified in the user manual. Reconnect the spark plug wire securely.
Ensure the snow thrower is running at full throttle, and adjust the chute to aim snow at the desired location. Clear snow frequently to avoid overloading the machine and ensure optimum efficiency.
