To start the Toro Power Clear 38581 Snow Thrower, ensure the fuel valve is open, the choke is engaged, and the throttle is set to full. Pull the starter handle or use the electric starter if available. Once the engine starts, gradually disengage the choke.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use fuel containing more than 10% ethanol to avoid engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 2 hours of operation and then every 25 hours of operation or once per season, whichever comes first.
Check the fuel level, ensure the fuel valve is open, and verify the spark plug connection. Make sure the choke is engaged and the throttle is set to full. If the problem persists, inspect the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
Inspect the auger regularly for wear and damage. Replace the scraper bar and paddles if they are worn out. Ensure the auger is free of debris after each use.
Ensure the paddles are in good condition and replace them if they are worn. Adjust the chute direction and angle to optimize the throwing distance. Use the snow thrower at full throttle.
Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation. Clean the snow thrower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, covered location. Remove the spark plug and add a few drops of oil into the cylinder to prevent rust.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug by hand, then tighten it with the wrench. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Check for debris or ice buildup on the auger and impeller. Inspect the auger and impeller for damage or wear. Tighten any loose components. If the issue persists, consult a service technician.
To adjust the skid shoes, loosen the mounting nuts, set the skid shoes to the desired height, and retighten the nuts. Ensure both skid shoes are adjusted evenly to prevent uneven wear.
