To start the Toro Grassmaster 20407 Mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, throttle is set to the 'Fast' position, and the blade control lever is disengaged. Then, pull the starter rope firmly.
Use a high-quality SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C). For colder temperatures, SAE 5W-30 oil is recommended. Always check the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Sharpen the mower blades after every 20-25 hours of use or whenever you notice a decrease in cutting performance.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, verify that the air filter is clean, and make sure the blade control lever is disengaged. Clean or replace the spark plug if necessary.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug. Tilt the mower to access the underside of the deck, and use a hose to rinse away grass clippings and debris. Avoid using excessive water pressure.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, and sharpening the blades. Follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual for best results.
Ensure the blades are sharp, mow when the grass is dry, adjust the cutting height according to your lawn's condition, and maintain a steady walking pace for an even cut.
Check for loose or damaged blades, ensure that the engine mounting bolts are tight, and inspect for any debris caught in the mower deck. Balance blades if needed.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new plug with the correct gap. Reattach the spark plug wire securely.
Drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery if applicable and cover the mower to protect it from dust.
