Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the drive levers are in the neutral position. Turn the ignition key to the start position and release it once the engine starts.
Check the mower deck for levelness and ensure the blades are sharp. Also, inspect for any debris buildup under the deck that might be affecting performance.
Regular maintenance such as checking oil levels, air filters, and blades should be done before each use. Comprehensive maintenance should be performed every 100 hours of operation.
Toro recommends using SAE 10W-30 oil that meets the API service classification SG, SH, SJ, SL, or higher.
Check the fuel level, ensure the battery is charged, and inspect the spark plug for wear or damage. Also, verify that the safety switches are functioning properly.
Clean the mower thoroughly, perform all necessary maintenance, and store it in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery and consider using a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
Use the height-of-cut lever located near the operator's position to adjust the cutting height. Ensure the deck is level and both sides are set to the same height.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose components, or debris lodged in the mower deck. Inspect and correct these issues as necessary.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, such as goggles and ear protection. Be mindful of your surroundings, and avoid mowing on steep slopes where the mower could tip over.
Keep the mower well-maintained, ensure the tires are properly inflated, and avoid mowing at full throttle unless necessary. Regularly clean or replace air filters to ensure optimal engine performance.
