To start the mower, ensure the fuel valve is open, set the throttle to the 'Fast' position, engage the choke if the engine is cold, and pull the starter rope firmly. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke to the 'Run' position.
Routine maintenance includes checking and changing the engine oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the blade for sharpness and damage, cleaning the mower deck, and checking the tire pressure. Refer to the user manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
Check the fuel level and quality, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, verify the air filter is clean, and confirm that the choke is engaged correctly. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers near each wheel. Move the levers to the desired height position, ensuring all four wheels are set to the same position for an even cut.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, clean the mower thoroughly, inspect and clean the air filter, change the engine oil, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered place. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Inspect the blade for dullness or damage. If dull, sharpen the blade using a file or grinder. If the blade is damaged, replace it with a new one. Always ensure the mower is turned off and the spark plug disconnected before handling the blade.
Maintain regular engine tune-ups, ensure the air filter is clean, use the correct grade of fuel, and keep the blades sharp to enhance cutting efficiency. Avoid mowing in excessively tall or wet grass to reduce engine load.
Toro recommends using SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Always check the owner’s manual for the specific oil type and capacity for your model.
Check if the wheels are set at the same height, ensure the blade is sharp and balanced, inspect the deck for debris build-up, and confirm the mower is moving at a consistent speed over the lawn.
Always wear appropriate footwear and eye protection, clear the mowing area of debris, never refuel the mower while it is running or hot, and keep children and pets away from the mowing area.
