To change the oil, ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the oil fill cap and drain plug, allowing the old oil to completely drain into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug, add new oil through the fill cap, and check the oil level with the dipstick.
Check the fuel tank for enough gasoline. Ensure the spark plug is connected and clean. Verify that the air filter is not clogged. Also, ensure that all safety features, such as the blade control bail, are properly engaged.
Blades should be sharpened every 25 to 30 hours of use or whenever you notice uneven cutting or tearing of the grass. Dull blades can damage the lawn and strain the engine.
After each use, clean the mower deck to prevent grass buildup. Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Use a hose to spray underneath the deck, or gently scrape with a plastic tool for stubborn debris.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to set the desired cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set at the same height for an even cut.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
To store the mower, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower thoroughly and change the oil. Store the mower in a dry place and cover it to protect it from dust and moisture.
Excessive vibration could be due to unbalanced or damaged blades. Check for debris stuck under the deck or a loose blade bolt. Inspect and balance the blades, or replace them if damaged.
To improve fuel efficiency, regularly maintain the engine, including changing the oil and air filter. Sharpen the blades to reduce engine load. Mow at the recommended grass height and avoid mowing wet grass.
Routine maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting and sharpening blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck. Regularly inspect the spark plug and replace it if needed.
