To start the Toro CL 710 51561 Trimmer, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb slowly 5 times, move the choke lever to the 'full' position, pull the starter handle until the engine attempts to start, then move the choke to 'half' and pull again until the engine starts.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. The trimmer requires a 50:1 gas-to-oil ratio, so be sure to mix the gasoline with a high-quality 2-cycle oil.
First, turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the trimmer head cover, then carefully remove any remaining line. Insert new line into the holes, winding it evenly and firmly, then reattach the cover.
Inefficient cutting may be due to a worn or improperly installed trimmer line. Check the line for wear and replace if necessary. Ensure the line is installed correctly and not too short.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover and take out the filter. Wash it gently in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace the cover securely.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting and replacing the trimmer line, and checking fuel lines for cracks or leaks. Also, inspect the spark plug and replace it annually.
Drain the fuel tank or run the engine until it stops to remove fuel. Clean the trimmer thoroughly and inspect for any damage. Store it in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Ensure there is fresh fuel in the tank and the spark plug is not fouled. Check the air filter for clogs and inspect fuel lines for leaks. Verify the choke and primer are functioning correctly.
Check that all screws and bolts are securely fastened. Inspect the trimmer head for damage or imbalance. Properly load the trimmer line and ensure it is not too short or unevenly wound.
Always wear protective eyewear, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Keep bystanders at least 50 feet away, and avoid trimming in wet conditions to prevent slipping. Be cautious of debris that may fly during operation.
