To start the Toro BC-25 22614 Chipper, ensure it is on a flat surface, check the fuel and oil levels, and set the choke to the start position. Pull the starter cord briskly until the engine starts, then gradually move the choke to the run position.
If the chipper is not chipping effectively, check if the blades are dull or damaged and replace them if necessary. Also, ensure that the feed chute is not clogged with debris.
The blades should be sharpened every 25 hours of use or if you notice a decrease in chipping performance. Always use proper safety equipment when handling blades.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
If the chipper won't start, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Verify the spark plug is not fouled or damaged, and ensure the choke is in the correct position.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the oil every 20 hours of use, cleaning the air filter, and inspecting the blades and belts for wear.
To clear a jam, first shut off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a wooden stick to remove debris from the chute, avoiding direct contact with blades.
Wear safety goggles, ear protection, and gloves while operating the chipper. Keep bystanders at a safe distance and never reach into the feed chute while the engine is running.
For off-season storage, drain the fuel tank, change the oil, and clean the chipper thoroughly. Store it in a dry, covered area to prevent rust and corrosion.
Excessive vibration may indicate unbalanced blades or debris caught in the rotor. Check and clean the rotor, and ensure the blades are properly aligned and securely fastened.
