Toro 8 HP 56138 Operator's Manual

Ensure the fuel valve is open, the throttle is set to 'Choke' for a cold start, and the blade control is disengaged. Pull the starter handle firmly to start the engine.
Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance in temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For colder temperatures, SAE 5W-30 is recommended.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or at least once a season.
Use a Champion RJ19LM or equivalent spark plug, gapped to 0.030 inches (0.76 mm).
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, inspect the air filter for debris, and verify that the fuel valve is open.
Sharpen the blade at least once a season or more frequently if it becomes dull. Ensure the blade is balanced and securely tightened after sharpening.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm, soapy water. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Maintain a tire pressure of 15 psi (103 kPa) for optimal performance and handling.
Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and store it in a dry place. Remove the spark plug and add a teaspoon of oil to the cylinder to prevent rust.
Check and change the oil if needed, inspect the spark plug, clean the air filter, sharpen the blade, and ensure all nuts and bolts are tight. Top off the fuel and check tire pressure.
